What’s the Best Swim Spa Temperature?
Arctic Spas® All Weather Pools are a great way to be able to swim, relax and play outdoors 365 days a year. Designed to function both as a backyard pool and a relaxing hot tub, the water temperature can be set between 59℉ to 104℉. With such a large range of temperatures, it can be hard to know where you should set your swim spa’s temperature.
Warm Water
All Weather Pools are hybrid products, meaning they can be used as a Hot Tub or as a Swimming Pool. When being used as a Hot Tub, it offers many health benefits, such as increased circulation, muscle and joint pain relief, weight loss, faster healing and improved sleep. However, if your water isn’t hot enough, you won’t be able to reap these benefits.
The ideal water temperature is 100℉. At 100℉, your body heats up enough to cause vasodilation, offering many health benefits. Furthermore, it is also not too hot to be dangerous, although you should always listen to your body and if you have any symptoms, such as fatigue, dizziness, headache and nausea, you should immediately get out of the water and slowly try to cool your body temperature down.
Some people choose to set their hot tub up to 104℉. This temperature offers you a relaxing, muscle loosening soak that many people enjoy! At this temperature, you should limit your soak to 15 – 30 minutes and you should be conscious of any symptoms of hyperthermia.
All Weather Pools are equipped with powerful heaters and cooling systems that help keep your water at the temperature you set it at. This is very important for your health, the functioning of your All Weather Pool’s parts and ensuring you get the most out of your swim spa.
Cold Water
The other way to use swim spas is as a pool. Setting your water to a lower temperature has many benefits. One big benefit is that keeping your water cooler is more energy efficient than keeping water hot, meaning you pay less on your electricity bills.
Going for a nice, cool plunge in the pool is a great way to spend your summer days. That being said, jumping into an ice-cold pool might be more of a hair-raising chill than fun. So, what is the right temperature to keep your All Weather Pool at?
The generally accepted temperature range for leisure pools is 78℉ – 82℉. At this temperature, you’re still able to cool down on a hot day, but it’s not so cold that your body tenses up every time you get in.
Something to keep in mind with pool water is that you’re not necessarily looking to reap the benefits of the water temperature, so you have a much bigger range to play with. If you find that 78℉ is too warm, you can easily adjust the temperature without affecting much else about your All Weather Pool.
